To observe are differences between the Middle East and the Americas. In the Middle East, especially the deep yellow gold jewelry of up to 22 carats will be greatly appreciated. In America, gold jewelery alloys dominate with much less carat. Therefore is more highly sought after jewelery from Egypt, the Gulf States and Turkey. But the jewelry from Southeast Asia is partly due to the very pure fine gold highly sought after and are therefore very familiar. In many cultures, the traditional jewelry is made of high quality. The richer gold color from the southern latitudes often have better resistance welding and are therefore more preferable than gold from more northerly areas.
The high quality of the alloy is treated differently in many countries, and gold is not always defined the same as gold. In Switzerland itself is a 375er gold alloy no gold and it should not be sold as gold jewelry. In other countries, gold is permitted with a share of 37.5% gold, while in others only with a share of 58.5% (Gold 585). The actual name for the high value of gold, the unit carat derives from from the old rating system, and is abbreviated kt. However, this unit shows the differences from the unit carats of gemstones, which is why even in abbreviated ct. The share of other precious metals such as silver, platinum or rhodium is therefore not included in the marking.
